On Wednesday afternoon 8 June 2016 dressage kicked off with their first class - the Young Riders CDI Team Championship Test - at 2016 Future Champions CDIO-PJYR Hagen, presented by Performance Sales International. The young German riders were in top form, occupying not only first, but the four other top places among the top five. Anna Christina Abbelen and First Lady were the winners of the test.
Anna-Christina Abbelen from Kempen, Germany, won the class aboard her second ride, the 10-year old Wurttemberger mare First Lady (by Florencio x Donnerhall). They scored 72.851% and edged out Anna Louisa Fuchs on the 10-year old Hanoverian mare Rien Ne Va Plus (by Rascalino) who finished second with 72.193%.
“Sometimes, she is a true diva, but today we perfectly complemented each other,” said Abbelen who will be competing her number one ride Furst On Tour in the CDIO-YR Nations' Cup.
Rebecca Edwards from Great Britain was the only foreign competitor among the top placed German riders. Aboard Leigh Edward's Hanoverian gelding Don Archie (by Dimaggio) she placed third with 71.798%.
. Places four to six went to Leonie Richter from Bad Essen with Babylon (70.482%), Claire-Louise Averkorn from Nottuln with Alonso V (70.307%) and Marie-Christin Kogel from Sindelfingen with Harkon (70.088%)
The Future Champions in Hagen will go full speed tomorrow with the CDIO and CDIO Junior classes, the Chldren's division, and the Young Riders Nations' Cup team test.
