The German Junior and Young Riders Team remained undefeated in the Nations Cup Team Championship tests at the Future Champions CDIO-PJYR Hagen at Hof Kasselmann in Hagen, Germany, on Thusday 9 June 2016. For team trainer Olivier Oelrich there is no slim pickings in choosing
his teams for the 2016 European Junior and Young Riders Championships
and this was proven in Hagen.
In the Young riders' Nations Cup, which was sponsored by the Liselott und Klaus Rheinberger-Stiftung, it all went very smoothly for Germany, which took the top three slots in the ranking. Their total of 1,724 points made them win the nations' cup ahead of Denmark (1,574.5 Punkte) and The Netherlands (1,537 Punkte). Jil-Marielle Becks topped the leaderboard in the individual ranking on her Westfalian bred Damon's Satelite (by Damon Hill x Rubin Royal) with a strong score of 76.360%. Anna Lisa Theila and Ducati K (by Damon Hill) were second with 74.868%, while Anna Christina Abbelen and Furst on Tour (by Furst Heinrich) were third with 72.500%.
In the Junior Riders' nations cup, Germany pulled the same trick and outclasses their competitors. The German juniors scored a total of 1621 points, ahead of Denmark (1,551.5 points) and The Netherlands (1502.5 points). The class winner was German Hannah Erbe on Carlos (by Carabas), who already won gold at the 2015 European Junior Riders Championships. She scored 73.063% and edged out compatrior Rebecca Horstmann on Friend of Mine (by For Compliment) with 72.973%. Denmark's Celine Rorbaek Silfen and Romio Hoejris landed third spot on 70,541%.
"I'm totally happy. All showed very consistent, secure and expressive riders," said German team trainer Oliver Oelrich.
Westendarp and Abbelen Win CDI Classes
Germany dominated the team contest of junior dressage riders at the CDIJ, presented by Hof Kasselmann GmbH & Co. KG. The young riders from the host country occupied the places one to seven and relegated the other participants from ten nations to the rear ranks.
Alexa Westendarp, who only had to travel approx. 30 km from her home town Wallenhorst, was in top form. She relied on her 9-year-old Diamond Hit x Davignon-progeny Der Prinz, and the judges from Denmark, France and the Czech Republic honoured her performance with 71.892%.
“I had a really good feeling today – Prinz normally perfectly works and co-operates in the tests,” explained the 18-year-old rider. “It was quite difficult with us in the beginning, but we fought our way up, and it’s getting better and better.”
Second place went to the 14-year-old Liselott Marie Linsenhoff who rode the 9-year-old Oldenburg Danönchen OLD (by Danone I) to 70.225%. The rider from Kronenberg relegated her colleague Marlina Garrn from Guderhandviertel with Di Baggio (by Dimaggio) to third place (70.180%).
Yesterday’s Young Riders CDI Team Test winners Anna-Christina Abbelen and First Lady reigned once again in the individual young rider CDIY-test, the qualifier for the Kur. With a final result of 73.509%, the duo even increased its score compared to the team test. They are now the favourites for the Young Rider Freestyle Final on Saturday morning. Claire-Louise Averkorn from Nottuln and Alonso V scored 72.193% to place second, followed by Anna-Louisa Fuchs from Hirschberg with Rien ne va plus and 71.886%.
