Danish dressage trainer, tv commentator and dressage personality Bjarne Nielsen has been honoured with the 2016 Lis Hartel Memorial Prize at the Danish Dressage Championships in Broholm on Sunday 19 June 2016.
The memorial prize was handed to Nielsen by the Hartel-Siesbye family and HRH Princess Benedicte of Denmark who represented the Dressage Supporters Group "Dressurens Venner". Nielsen is bestowed with a cheque of 25,000 DKK.
"Bjarne is a well known and highly respected in the dressage and breeding world. For many years he has been part of management of the Danish warmblood breeding programme as a specialty judge at the stallion licensing as well as a judge at the performance testings and young horse championships. This fine collaboration has resulted in a greater focus on the potential of dressage horses."
Nielsen is also closely involved as a coach in pony, junior and young rider sport and has helped him on their path to international competition. He has provided expert commentary at the European Championships and Olympics.
