Ierland, the reserve champion of the 2016 KWPN Stallion Licensing, has passed away at the Højgaard equine clinic after relapsing from a colic attack and surgery two months ago.
Ierland was bred by Broere Stud and was by Dream Boy x Jazz. Danish horse dealer Andreas Helgstrand acquired Ierland in a private transaction at the 2016 KWPN licensing in February. One month later he was licensed with the Danish warmblood society.
On 28 April Ierland suffered from a severe colic attack and was transported to the Højgaard equine clinic, where he was operated on for an inguinal hernia. The stallion was in critical condition after the surgery but pulled through.
Unfortunately on Sunday afternoon 26 June 2016 he relapsed and returned to Højgaard but they could not save him.
"We are terribly sad to lose this amazing young stallion of which we were convinced that he had an exciting future ahead of him," said Helgstrand. "He was a stallion with a great personality and was the darling of the barn from the start."
