The 2016 Nordic Baltic Championships in Dressage, Para-Dressage and Jumping kicked off in Ypäjä, Finland on 29 June 2016 with the team championship competition for ponies, children and juniors. The championships are part of the traditional Finnderby event organized yearly since 1970's.
In addition to the championship program there is international reining competition, derby, Mannerheims eventing competition and Finnish championships in Eventing for Senior and Young Riders. The action will last until Sunday 3 July 2016.
The first round of team competitions in dressage began with the category I ponies and juniors. The Danes were in command as usual. Sweden is in second place ahead Norwey and Finland.
In the category 1 pony division for the tallest ponies, Danish Sofie Hansen took the lead on the German bred palomino Prince of Glory with a score of 72.991%. Danish Caroline Falkenskov and Traeumer topped the board in the small pony category (2) with 69.958%. Swedish Children's rider Clara Isaksson headed a field of five competitors in the Children team test with 70.056%. Danish junior Anne Mette Lyager and Brandtoftes Sjubell left all competition far behind them with a 72.973% victory in the team test.
