Russia has won team gold at the 2016 European Children Championships, which are taking place in Oliva Nova, Spain, from 19 - 24 July 2016. The Russian campaign for team gold was led by Anna Guseynova who won the team championship test, which was ridden on Friday evening 22 July 2016.
The Children's division for 12 to 14 year old kids competing at L-level either on horses or ponies consists of three classes: a warm up preliminary test, a nations' team championship test and the individual test. The team championship test was judged by Saleh (FRA), Ebert (GER), Umbach (LUX), Campos (ESP) and Leyman (BEL).
Russia won the gold medal with a strong team. Their best rider was Anna Guseynova riding the 11-year old Westfalian gelding Lauda (by Laudabilis x Florestan) with 73,100% and she placed at the top of the team test ranking. Spanish based Russian compatriot Ekaterina Aristova finished third with 70,800%. She saddled the experienced Russian team horse Shania, a 14-year old mare by Show Star x Dream of Glory.
The French team was fighting until the last moment for the gold, but finally they took the silver medal. Jade Leborgne and her 15-year old Hanoverian gelding Don Calypso (by Donnerhall x Calypso II) were the strongest duo in the team they finished with 70,555% in fourth place.
Spain won the bronze medal. Their best combination was Ainhoa Vera and Mosquetero VII (69,70% - 7th) a 17-year old PRE, owned by San Antonio studfarm, sired by Indiano XLV x Remolino III.
The second place in the individual ranking of the team test was taken by the Czech Eva Vavrikova on the 10-year old Dutch bred mare Belle Ennie (by Don Gregory x Grafiet). The pair scored 71.833%
