British rider Laura Tomlinson and her new ride Rosalie B (by Rubin Royal x Newcastle), achieved a Grand Prix-Grand Prix Special double at Deauville CDI3* in northern France on 21-24 July 2016). Laura and the beautiful dark bay mare, who’s a relatively new resident in the Bechtolsheimer stable, scored a promising 71.360% to top the podium in the Grand Prix, before making the Grand Prix Special their own with a strong 70.549%.
The ten-year-old Westphalian mare, who’s affectionately known as Rosie, joined Laura’s team of horses towards the end of last year. Purchased from her breeder, Klaus Balkenhol, who’s been a major influence on Laura’s career as her trainer and mentor, Rosalie B was formerly ridden by Balkenhol’s assistant rider, Vera Nass. London 2012 team gold and individual bronze-medallist Laura has since formed a great bond with Rosie, which became evident during a winter spell in the Florida sunshine at the Wellington CDI series where they made their career debut.
Another new British partnership, Dan Sherriff and Air FK, also enjoyed a highly successful trip to France, landing two victories in the Middle Tour. Dan and the Litta Sohi’s 11-year-old son of Parcival, a powerful Dutch-bred chestnut, certainly made a great impression. They raised the flag heading the Intermediate B with 69.563% followed by an exciting Intermediate II performance to earn 70.175%. In a few short months, Dan and ‘Air’, who was previously competed up to Small Tour by his owner, have formed a good connection as they forge their way to Grand Prix.
