Deodoro, Top Seller of the 2016 Oldenburg Elite Foal Auction

The colt Deodoro (by Danone I x Fürst Romancier x Florencio I) became the price highlight of the 2016 Oldenburg Elite Foal Auction in Vechta on Saturday 27 August 2016.

Bred by Katja Schiele-Jenei from Schleswig-Holstein, the stallion prospect sold for 120,000 euro to a customer from Lower Saxony.

The second most expensive foal was Diamond Starlet (by Diamond Hit x Bretton Woods x Sir Donnerhall I). Bred by Johann Martens from Uplengen, this foal sold for 100,000 euro to Austria. The dark bay colt Great Stone (by Grey Flanell x De Niro x Rubinstein) will also move to Austria for 50,000 euro. He will be joined by the black colt For De Niro (by For Romance x De Niro x Argentinus) for whom the hammer knocked down at 74,000 euro.

Francis Drake (by Franklin x Don Schufro x Akzent II,) bred by Dr. Jobst Hartmann from Holdorf, sold for 82,000 euro to Helgstrand in Denmark.  Dr. Weihegold (by De Niro x Sandro Hit x Figaro) from the dam line of Olympic gold medal winning mare Weihegold, sold for 52,000 euro to Denmark. Danish buyers acquired the chestnut colt Visconti (by Vivaldi x Just Perfect) for 55,000 euro.

Double Hit II (by Diamond Hit x Sandro Hit x Rubinstein) will stay in Germany but switched owners for 42,000 euro. The liver chestnut colt Franzissimo II (by Franziskus x Belissimo M) also stays in Germany and sold for 38,000 euro. American customers purchased Top Scorer (by Top Gear  x De Niro x Camelot) for 30,000 euro.

Norwegian Grand Prix rider Cathrine Rasmussen acquired two foals: Elfenmusik (by Grey Flanell x De Niro x Goldstern) for 70,000 euro and Dance with Me (by Danciano x Sandro Hit x Donnerhall) for 11,000 euro.

Customers from Dubai paid 25,000 euro for the bay colt Boateng (by Buckingsham x Stedinger). Swedish clients acquired Dona Vista (by Bon Coeur x Stedinger x Rohdiamant) for 33,000 euro.

The best selling jumper foal was Congratulation (by Cornet Obolensky x Diarado x Landgraf I) which sold to Indonesia for 50,000 euro. Indonesian buyers also paid 35,000 euro for the black colt Weiss-Schwarz (by Millennium x Floriscount).

The average price for a foal at this auction was 19,990 euro and 32 foals were sold for more than 20,000 euro.
