Swedish Grand Prix A-team rider Emilie Nyrerod has sold her former Swedish team horse Miata to 16-year old Swedish Ebba Nilsson who will make the transition from ponies to junior riders level in 2017.
The 17-year old Oldenburg bred Miata (by Lancado x Grasco x Lanthan) has been one of Sweden's leading Grand Prix horses since 2013. The bay gelding brought his rider Emilie into the senior Grand Prix division through the Under 25 circuit. They represented Sweden in the Under 25 Nations' cup at the 2012 CDIO Aachen before they made their transition to senior Grand Prix in 2013.
In 2013 the pair started to play with the big boys and competed at the CDI's in Norrkoping, Helsinki and Verden. They were 10th at the 2013 Swedish GP Championships. In 2014 they represented Sweden at the CDIO Kristiansand and contested the competitions in Falsterbo Verden and Oslo.
Their career highlight year came in 2015 when they represented their country at the European Championships in Aachen and finished 22nd in the Grand Prix Special. They also won the CDI Mallorca in September with their record score of 77.350%. Half a year later they qualified for the 2016 World Cup Finals which they rode in home country Sweden. They landed a 14th place with a 73.143% earning freestyle. They missed out on the Swedish Olympic team reserve spot this summer.
Miata has now been sold to the Nilsson family, whose daughter Ebba has been competing at international pony level since 2015. Aboard Roman and B Capriole Ebba has gained mileage at the CDI's in Hagen, Vestfold, Odense, Roosendaal, and Ypaja. With Roman (by Orchard Red Prince x Vitano) she was a member of the Swedish team at the 2016 European Pony Championships in Vilhelmsborg, Denmark and placed 27th in the Individual Test. She also won silver twice at the Swedish Pony Championships.
"Of course it's sad that I have to part with such a wonderful horse," Nyrerod told Swedish equestrian magazine Ridsport, "but now I want to focus on my young horses." Miata's new rider Ebba is trained by Cilla Kristoffersen, who also coaches Nyrerod. "It's very convenient that we have the same trainer. Cilla knows Miata. "He's a very, very sensitive horse and it's awesome to sit on him," said Nilsson. "Miata is totally fantastic and I will be able to learn from him."
