American Olympic short listed combination Arlene Page and Woodstock moved into the winner's circle at the 2016 CDI Tryon on 9 - 11 September 2016. This very small international dressage competition at the Tryon equestrian centre marks the fourth national competition of the year and the second FEI CDI 3* at the venue, which is bidding to host the 2018 World Equestrian Games.
Arlene “Tuny” Page (USA) and Woodstock, fresh off of a strong campaign in Europe this spring, took both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle, collecting dual honors in the presentation ceremony with her own 2003 Dutch Warmblood gelding (b yHavel x Contango). The pair earned a 70.660% in the Grand Prix for a solid lead over Michael Barisone (USA) aboard Wyatt Star, a 2003 Dutch Warmblood gelding (by Gribaldi x Krack C) owned by Judith Cardella, who placed second with a 64.220%. Nora Batchelder (USA) and her own Bahai, a 2004 Hanoverian mare (by Baroncelli x Rotspon) rounded out the top three finishers, receiving a 61.340%.
Page and Woodstock returned to best the Grand Prix Freestyle earning a 72.950% ahead of Batchelder and Bahai who received a 66.500% for second place. Kim Gentry (AUS) and her own Leonardo, a 2007 Danish Warmblood gelding (by Solos Landtinus x Rambo) earned a 60.020% as the only rider in the Grand Prix Special, to secure the victory.
Lars Petersen (DEN) and Quascai Nexen, a 2008 Danish Warmblood gelding (by Quaterback x Argentinus) owned by Altersgait, LLC, rose to the top of the leaderboard in the Prix St. Georges class with a 70.105%. Emily Miles (USA) and Floretienne, a 2009 Oldenburg mare (by Florestan I x Jazz) owned by Leslie Waterman, collected second place with a 68.3211%, while Melissa Taylor (USA) and Ansgar, a 2005 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Special D x Formateur) owned by Nicole Polaski, took home third place in the class, receiving a 67.500%
Petersen and Svalegards De Luxe, a 2008 Danish Warmblood gelding (by De Noir x Pari-Ace) owned by Petersen and Jane Warchem, took top honors in the Intermediare I with a score of 67.868%. Jessica Jo Tate (USA) and her own Summersby, a 2007 Hanoverian gelding (by Sir Donnerhall x Rosentau), followed closely behind with a score of 67.632%. Emily Miles (USA) and Floretienne earned their second top three finish of the weekend, taking third place with a 65.921%.
Ashley Wimmer (USA) and her own Somerhall, a 2005 Oldenburg mare (Sir Donnerhall x Arantscha B x Archipel), took top honors in the FEI Intermediaire I Freestyle with a score of 66.550%.
