For the second consecutive year and the fourth time in total has De Niro dominated the WBFSH Dressage Sire Ranking. The World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses released the final sire rankings for 2016 on 7 November.
The sire ranking for dressage has little changes. The Hanoverian stalion De Niro (by Donnerhall x Akzent II x Wiesenbaum xx) scored a total of 34866 points to top the 2016 ranking. The biggest contribution for that score came from Kristina Bröring-Sprehe's Desperados, who has topped the 2016 WBFSH Dressage Horse Ranking. De Niro was also a leader of the Dressage Sires ranking in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
The oldenburg stallion Don Schufro is back in top 10 whilse KWPN stallion Ferro has dropped out of the top 10 ranking. Oldenburger Rubin Royal (by Rohdiamant x Grundstein II) is this year's dressage high-jumper having moved up the rankings from 8th to 4th. Father and son Don Schufro and Diamond Hit (OLDB) are placed 9th and 10th whilst Don Schufro's sire Donnerhall (OLDB) is placed 11th. Donnerhall is also the sire of first placed De Niro.
The Dutch warmblood stallion Jazz, who led the Dressage Sire Ranking, who topped the ranking in 2008, 2009 and 2011, has dropped from a third place in 2015 to a fifth place this year.
