The chestnut Don Royal (by Don Juan de Hus x Rubin Royal x Gotland) was named the champion of the 2016 German Sport Horse (DSP) Stallion Licensing held in Neustadt/Dosse on 24 - 26 November 2016.
Forty-four stallions in total were presented for licensing in Neustadt an der Dosse. Twenty of them were licensed and only three dressage bred colts were named premium stallion.
The licensing champion by Don Juan de Hus was bred by the Neustadt/Dosse state stud and descends from the famous P-family, which produced World Young horse champion Poetin, Isabell Werth's small tour horse Belantis and licensed stallion Quaterback.
The further two premium dressage colts were an Antango x De Niro x Andiamo, bred by Andreas Tabeling and owned by Heinrich Ramsbrock, and a Millennium x De Chirico x Royal Dance, bred and owned by Volkmar and Heike Schadock.
At the auction following the licensing, the Millennium premium colt became the price highlight, selling for 82,000 euro to Great Britain. The second most expensive colt at the auction was a San Florestano x Simonetti, which sold for 55,000 euro to a Berlin based dressage rider. Seven licensed colts were offered for auction and they achieved an average price of 44,285 euro. The most expensive non-licensed stallion was a Furst Romancier x Argentinus, which sold for 18,000 euro.
