The FEI has ordered the organizers of the 2017 Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida to make a budget cut in the prize money for its CDI 4* on 15 - 19 March 2017.
The 2017 Global Dressage Festival covers seven weeks of CDI competition with four World Cup qualifiers, a 5*, a 4* and a CDIO 3* Nations Cup event.
According to Dressage-News, the CDI 4* competition, scheduled for 15 - 19 March 2017, boasted a purse of $120,000, but the FEI ordered the organizers to cut it to $95,000 "as the strength of the United States dollar that has altered the conversion rate with the Swiss franc."
"FEI rules specify prize money for a CDI4* as a minimum of 24,000 and a maximum of 89,999 Swiss francs, regardless of the country the event is staged, the comparative values of the currencies or past history," Dressage-News explained.
