At the 2017 Dutch KNHS Training Seminar keynote speaker Sönke Rothenberger stated that he believes all judges should unite in formulating an advice on the right description of the term "submission" and present this advice to the FEI rules and regulations committee.  "Some matters like a lightly active mouth don't bother me at all. It is only logical that a foaming horse wants to get rid of its foam, what would you do yourself?"

Rothenberger carried out the training seminar together with the Dutch coach Johan Hamminga. Another general advice that the duo gave to the audience was: "Too short in the neck can be temporarily necessary on the way to a better contact and lengthening." (source KNHS)
