Danish Olympian Agnete Kirk Thinggaard has made a winning show debut aboard her newly acquired Grand Prix horse, Atterupgaards Orthilia, Fiona Bigwood's mare who was part of the British Olympic silver medal winning team in Rio.
Thinggaard acquired the 12-year old Oldenburg bred mare Orthilia (by Gribaldi x Donnerschlag) in February after months of speculation about a potential and surprising sale of one of Britain's key team horses. The retirement of Valegro and the sale of Orthilia have decimated the power of the British dressage team for the 2017 European Championships.
Denmark, on the other hand, has gained a tremendous strength in Orthilia who has proven herself to be a high 70% scoring horse. At the national show in Holte, Denmark, on Saturday 25 March 2017, Agnete rode the mare in their first Grand Prix class and won the test with 75.300%.
The Holte Grand Prix featured 13 riders in total. Second place went to Charlotte Heering aboard the 11-year old Dutch bred Bufranco (by Negro x Zevenster) with 72.833% followed by Lise Ladefoged Jensen on the 9-year old Arrietta Klintgaard (by Zack x Don Schufro) with 69.600%.
