After almost seventeen years on the job as the main young stallion rider at Paul Schockemohle's station in Muhlen, Germany, Anja Engelbart has resigned from her position and chosen for a new opportunity in her professional career.
The 47-year old Engelbart has been the loyal trainer of the majority of Schockemohle's young dressage stallions, taking them to young horse competitions, stallion shows as well as national Championships.
On a few occasions, Engelbart competed internationally. She took three horses to the World Young Horse Championships in Verden: with Diamond Hit she won silver in 2002, on Rosario she unfortunately got eliminated in 2004 and with De Champ she finished 10th in 2011 and 15th in 2012.
At the 2015 Bundeschampionate Engelbart received the award for the best training and presentation of a horse at the German Young Horse Championships in Warendorf.
Engelbart has accepted the position of young horse trainer at German Grand Prix rider Bernadette Brune's yard Gestut Brune in Westerstede, Germany. She will start her new job in May.
"Anja and I are friends since a while, but I didn't dare to ask her. When she called me, because she read our advertisement on Eurodressage, I was speechless," Bernadette Brune told Eurodressage. "She is very happy to come here. It will be an opportunity for her for a good future and for us it is a blessing with such an experienced rider to begin our project Gestüt Brune."
Engelbart told Eurodressage that "after 16,5 great and successful years in Schockemöhles stable it felt that it's time to change. I look forward now for the new opportunity on Bernadette's beautiful stud."
Anja marked last year's victory at the Bundeschampionate with Festina PS and third place with Famosa PS as one of the most significant in her career. "And in 2002 to be second at the Bundeschampionate and World Championchip with Diamond Hit," she added. "I'm thankful for the great opportunity I had the last years on all these good horses."
