Foundator (by Foundation x Samarant x Andiamo) became the price highlight of the 2017 Oldenburg Spring Elite Auction in Vechta, Germany, on Saturday 1 April 2017.
The bay 4-year old, owned by Markus Rump from Drantum, Germany, sold for 360,000 euro to Andreas Helgstrand from Denmark.
The second most expensive horse was the strong moving Fürstenspiegel (by Fürstenball OLD x Stedinger x- Figaro). This stallion, bred by Torsten Cording from Ganderkesee, Germany, and owned by Hungarian Emese Vagi sold to a dressage stable in Bavaria for 125,000 euro.
The hammer fell at 100,000 euro for 2017 Oldenburg Saddle Licensing champion Texas Tokio (by Tomahawk x Zack x Michellino). The Danish warmblood registered stallion, bred by Lena and Rasmus Dalsgaard from Denmark and owned by American Jamie White-Welling, sold to a world class dressage stable in Great Britain.
The Spanish owned Oldenburg Salobre TR OLD (by Self made x Weltmeyer x Hill Hawk xx), bred by Hubert Ratermann and owned by Yeduada Acosta Ponce, Spain, sold for 100,000 euro to a customer from Hamburg. The horse was a finalist at the 2016 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo.
The most expensive show jumper was Lady Pezine (by Lord Pezi x Couleur Rubin x Quasi Roi). She sold for 91,000 euro to Sweden. The highflyer is bred by Diedrich Fick and was owned by Diedrich & Ute Fick.
Foreign customers showed great interest in quality horses from Oldenburg. Almost half of the collection was sold to international Oldenburg friends. Customers from Spain (5), Switzerland (4), USA (3), Great Britain (2), Italy (2), Denmark (1), Canada (1), Russia (1), Sweden (1) as well as the Czech Republic (1) will be taking home talented Oldenburgs to ride in the future.
The average price for a sport horse at this auction was approximately 46,000 euro. Licensed stallions cost around 56,000 euro on average. This gave auctioneer Fabian Kühl a fulminant debut, as the show jumping manager in Vechta had to step in for Uwe Heckmann, who is hospitalized with a broken shoulder.
