Van Peperstraten and Zoutendijk Win Fifth Leg of 2016-2017 KNHS Junior-Young Riders Cup

2016-2017 KNHS Junior-Young Riders Cup

Junior rider Daphne van Peperstraten and young rider Lisanne Zoutendijk scooped up the victories at the fifth leg of the 2016-2017 KNHS Dutch Junior-Young Riders Cup, a national show circuit for Dutch youth riders of which the legs count as squad and team selection events. The fifth leg took place in Almelo on Saturday 22 April 2017.

Almelo was the fifth leg after Nieuw en St. Joosland, Kronenberg, Assen and Berkel-Enschot. One more qualifier is to come in Exloo on 7 May, while the finals will be held in Roosendaal on 1 July 2017. Participation in this Junior-Young Rider Cup has been remarkably decreasing this year with fewer participants at each qualifier.

The junior division had only 12 riders. Daphne van Peperstraten continued her conquest aboard Cupido (by Johnson), having won all qualifiers so far as well as bagged victories in the few CDI starts she has made this season. They scored 72.70% and stayed leagues ahead of the competition. Maybrett Schruer and Bugatti Veyron NL (by Uphill) were second with 65.86%. Zoe Kuintjes and GG Desperado (by Florencio) landed third place with 65.81%.

Twelve young riders gathered in Almelo and in their division it was a neck and neck battle between Lisanne Zoutendijk and Febe van Zwambagt. On her routinier Ringo Star (by Riccione), Zoutendijk aced the class with 68.07%, edging out Van Zwambagt on her Rhinelander stallion FS Las Vegas (by Lord Loxley) who became the runner-up with 67.98%.
