The Lusitano Grand Prix stallion Dragao das Figueiras has been sold to French Patrice Mourruau who sponsors Luxembourg dressage rider Sascha Schulz and his coach, 4* judge Christof Umbach, at Grand Ducal dressage in Luxembourg.
The 9-year old Lusitano stallion Dragao Figueiras (by Unico x Xaquiro) is bred by Herdade Figueiras and was owned by the Portuguese Antonio Simoes.
The grey stallion was trained up to Grand Prix level by Spanish Jose Antonio Garcia Mena, who also successfully competed him at international small tour level. In the autumn of 2015 Garcia Mena and Simoes ended their collaboration and one month later Spanish Morgan Barbançon briefly got the ride on the horse, but that didn't last very long and the stallion returned to Portugal.
In the winter of 2016-2017 Dragao moved to Helgstrand Dressage to be sold. Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez made his national show debut on Dragao in Esbjerg, Denmark, at Grand Prix level. The pair finished fourth in the Intermediaire II with 72.281% and 9th in the Grand Prix they were 9th with 68.067%.
Dragao has been sold to Patrice Mourruau, a big time French banker, who hasbeen sponsoring Schulz and Umbach since 2014.
