Spanish Morgan Barbançon Mestre has scored her first international victory on the 11-year old Oldenburg licensed stallion Sir Donnerhall II OLD. At the Eastern World Cup League qualifier in Mariakalnok, Hungary, Barbançon won the Kur to Music under floodlight in a field of 11 competitors.
Organized by Hungarian Grand Prix riders Robert Acs and Aniko Losonczy, the CDI-W Mariakalnok hosted a double big tour as well as a special CDIO Nations Cup for Juniors and Young Riders, which was won by the Italian and Hungarian team.
In the Grand Prix for Special Morgan Barbançon topped the board on the 16-year old Baden Wurttemberger mare Girasol (by Gribaldi x Landioso) with 69.980% but the pair was bested by the Austrian duo Ulrike Prunthaller and Quebec (by Quaterback) in the Special with 70.000%.
In the Grand Prix for Kur German Benjamin Werndl led the pack aboard his 14-year old Oldenburg gelding Der Hit (by Del Gado x Welt Hit II) with 71.040%, but in the Kur he was bested by Barbançon and Sir Donnerhall II (by Sandro Hit x Donnerhall) with 73.000%, while Werndl was second with 72.200%.
Werndl and Prunthaller also aced the small tour with the German leading the Prix St Georges aboard the 8-year old Oldenburg gelding Famoso (by Farewell III x Welt Hit II) with 71.158%, while Prunthaller and her Quaterback offspring Quantum were victorious in the Intermediaire I with 70.737%.
