The 5-year old Boss Hoss and the 6-year old Echt Stark dominated the Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the regional event at Hofgut Petersau in Frankenthal, Germany, on Friday 12 May 2017. Nineteen 5-year olds and eleven 6-year olds rallyed in Frankenthal to get a ticket to Warendorf.
In the 5-year old division Katja Galmbacher (née Weisbrod) and the Bavarian bred stallion Boss Hoss (by Belissimo M x Romanov) tied in first place with Laura Strobel on the Rhinelander stallion Villeneuve (by Vitalis x Dancier). Both scored a total of 8.1. Galmbacher's Boss Hoss earned 8 for trot and canter, 8.5 for walk, and 8 for submission and general impression. Strobel and Sissy Max-Theurer's Villeneuve got 8 for walk and trot, 8.5 for canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
Ilona Kress and Katrin Pittroff's Oldenburg mare Echt Stark (by Royal Highness x Fielmann) bested the field in the 6-year old division. However, their winning score of 7.4 did not suffice to qualify for Warendorf. The black mare got 7.5 for trot and canter, 8 for walk, 6.5 for submission and 7.5 for general impression. Anna-Louisa Fuchs and Frank Kunzmann's Oldenburg gelding Rizzoli (by Rosandro x Ex Libris) tied in second place with Uta Gräf on Erik Neukranz' Bavarian stallion Feriado (by Fabregas x Riccione) on 7.3. Rizzoli earned 7.5 for trot, 7 for walk and canter, and 7.5 for submission and general impression. Feriado received 8 for trot, 7 for walk, canter and submission and 7.5 for general impression.
