The 5-year old Flying Dancer OLD and the 6-year old Echt Stark were the winners of the two Bundeschampionate qualification classes held at the Monrepos castle in Ludwigsburg, Germany, on Sunday 21 May 2017. Only a small group of eight horses in total rallyed at Monrepos for this qualifier.
Dorothee Schneider and the Oldenburg bred Flying Dancer OLD (by Furst Romancier x Sir Donnerhall) won the 5-year old division with 8.0. The bright bay gelding, which sold for 235,000 euro to Austria at the 2016 Oldenburg Spring Elite auction, scored 8.5 for trot, 8 for walk and canter, 7.5 for submission and 8 for general impression. Anja Schneider and the Oldenburg bred Dreamdancer THD (by Desperado x Quaterback) were the runners-up with 7.7. The liver chestnut stallion got 7.5 for trot and canter, 8 for walk and submission and 7.5 for general impression.
In the 6-year old division Ilona Kress celebrated a great birthday weekend as she won the M-level dressage horse test aboard Echt Stark, a black Oldenburg mare by Royal Highness x Fielmann. The pair already won the Frankenthal Bundeschampionate qualifier and with their 8.2 score in Ludwigsburg added another victory to their tally. Meike Lang and the Baden Wurttemberger bred Lord Blackwood FBW (by Lord Leopold x Don Gregory) were second with 7.5
