America's number one Grand Prix rider and the 2017 World Cup Finals number two, Laura Graves, will be giving Isabell Werth a run for the money at the 2017 CDIO Aachen on 19 - 23 July 2017.
Graves and her 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Verdades (by Florett As x Goya) have been officially entered to compete at the 2017 CDIO Aachen, where the German team candidates for the 2017 European Championships will have their second and last, mandatory team selection trial. Isabell Werth is entered to compete her number one, the Olympic silver medal winning and 2017 World Cup Finals champion Weihegold.
With the retirement of Valegro and the Olympic team gold medal winning Desperados and Showtime both recovering from injury, the 2017 has proven that there are currently three horses that are scoring around 80% in the world: Weihegold, Verdades and Sönke Rothenberger's Cosmo.
“I am particularly looking forward to this duel between two extraordinary riders and horses,” said Frank Kemperman, the show director of the 2017 CDIO Aachen and FEI Dressage Committtee chairman.
The 2017 CDIO Aachen starts on Wednesday 19 July 2017 with the first round of the CDIO-Under 25 (Intermediaire II), the Prix St Georges and the 4* Grand Prix. On Thursday 20 July 2017 the all important 5* CDIO Grand Prix will be contested. The CDIO Grand Prix Special is on Saturday 22 July and the CDIO Kur to Music on Sunday morning 23 July 2017.
