Danish Grand Prix team rider Anna Zibrandtsen has acquired Quel Filou at Helgstrand Dressage. In the past year Zibrandtsen has made three impressive acquisitions to strengthen her string of horses: Dorado, Arlando and Quel Filou.
Quel Filou is a 6-year old Oldenburg gelding by Quaterback x Stedinger x Lord Sinclair.
In 2014 the bright bay gelding sold as a 3-year old at the 2014 PSI Auction for 1 million euro. He was purchased by the French born and Luxembourg based banker Patrice Mourruau of Dressage Grand Ducal.
Mourruau recently sent two of his big PSI purchases to Helgstrand Dressage to be sold, Ferrari and Quel Filou, while Patrice's competition rider Sascha Schulz took over the FEI level trained and competed Don Tignanello and Dragao from Helgstrand.
Under Schulz Quel Filou won the silver medal at the 2016 World Young horse Championships. The gelding will again compete in Ermelo at the 2017 World Championships next week under Helgstrand's Spanish stable rider Severo Jurado Lopez.
The 23-year old Anna Zibrandtsen, who recently got nominated on the Danish team with Arlando for the 2017 European Championships, is thrilled to have added Quel Filou to her collection.
"I can be brief: Quel Filou is a fantastic horse," said Anna. "Already on my first try on him I didn't doubt a second, it is the perfect match. He has top movements and has a big talent for piaffe, which is important at his young age. He also has a good temperament and a great willingness to go, which he expresses in his riding, in which he has much concentration for the exercises."
Zibrandtsen owns her own yard, Bregnerødgård in Birkerød, Denmark, and is coached by Swedish Jan Brink.
