Danish equestrian journalist and photographer Britt Carlsen has been honoured with the 2017 Lis Hartel memorial prize. The editor-in-chief of Ridehesten received the award and a 25,000 DKK cheque at the 2017 Danish Championships.
Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte of Denmark handed over the award, which has been created in collaboration with the Hartel-Siesbye famly and Dressurens Venner, a Danish dressage promotional foundation.
"Equestrian journalist Britt Carlsen writes articles about sport and its history," said HRH Princess Benedikte. "This happy, smiling and welcoming editor is always open and positive to good ideas and initiatives. Britt is co-author of several books on high performance dressage and with her professional expertise, she has depth and flair for the good story. She covered the last three Olympic Games. For Dressurens Venner Britt Carlsen plays an important role in the dissemination of knowledge of dressage. With her great insight and contagious joy she keeps us constantly on the bit and at work . Therefore, she is a worthy recipient of the Lis Hartel Memorial Prize."
"It's a great honour to receive this award," said a beaming Carlsen. "I feel particularly honoured to be in the prestigious company of people who have already received this award."
Previous recipients of the Lis Hartel Memorial Prize are, for instance, trainer Bjarne Nielsen and judge Hans-Christian Matthiesen.
