Judy Reynolds has withdrawn from competing at the 2017 European Dressage Championships, which are set to take place in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 22 - 26 August 2017.
The European Championships are the year competition highlight were Europe's best dressage riders will meet. They are held every two years.
Reynolds has been forced to withdraw as Ireland's individual competitor as her 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Vancouver K (by Jazz x Ferro) has sustained a minor injury in training on Tuesday 15 August.
"It's with a heavy heart that I must withdraw JP from next week's European Championships in Gothenburg," Reynolds stated. "Jp has been in amazing form, we even have a brand new freestyle prepared for next week! But unfortunately he picked up a small injury yesterday in training. After consultation with our vets we feel that although it could be possible to start next week it is better not to take any risks with Jp's long term health."
Reynolds believes that Vancouver K should be back in work in six weeks.
"He will now get a break and we will be back in the winter ready to rock. Don't worry about Jp though, he's still as annoying as ever so obviously in good form," she joked.
