Marlies van Baalen and her husband Titus de Vries became the proud parents of their first child, Feline Jolie de Vries. The baby girl was born on 7 August, but her start in life was bumpy.
"Feline is incredibly beautiful, sweet and strong and she is the coronation of our love and happiness," said Van Baalen, who announced the news on 22 August.
Although Feline's birth went well, the baby developed complications right after and had to spend two weeks in three hospitals struggling for her life. Fortunately the baby recovered and is now home with her loving parents.
"After the delivery the two most scary and anxious weeks in our life followed," said Marlies. "In the hospitals in Den Bosch, Veldhoven and Utrecht our small brave lioness fought for her life and recovery together with the expert doctors and nurses. Fortunately Feline made nice progess and now we can enjoy life with her at home. We hope, pray and cross our fingers that she will continue to make progress."
