Sara Aagaard Hyrm and her 15-year old German riding pony Der Harlekin B captured the gold medal at the 2017 Danish Pony Championships held at the Hovgaard riding club on 25 - 27 August 2017. Sofie Hansen took silver and Claudia Kjaer finished with bronze.
The Danish FEI Pony Nationals for D-category ponies had 37 contestants. The best 15 scoring ponies after two rounds were eligible to compete in the Kur to Music on Sunday for the medals. The scores of all three rounds totalled decided the final ranking. Danish strongest pony pair, the European Championship triple silver medal winning Louise Christensen and Vegelin's Goya, decided not to compete at Hovgaard. Vegelin's Goya is offered for sale.
This left plenty of room for Aagaard Hyrm and Der Harlekin B (by Golden Dancer x Dornik B) to steer to gold. The combination was first in the team test (74.829%) and individual (75.976%) and placed second in the Kur (77.200%). Their total of 228.005 was good for gold, three years after her elder sister Sandro won gold and the Danish title on the same pony in 2014.
Sofie Hansen on the 10-year old palomino Prince of Glory (by Triple Tree's Prince Perfect x The Braes My Mobility) finished with silver on 224.729%. The pair was second in the team test (74.402%) and individual (72.927%) and won the kur to music (77.400%).
Claudia Kjaer and former team pony Adriano B, an 11-year old German bred De Angelo B x Flying Dream offspring, landed the bronze. The pair finished third in all three classes with 72.308%, 72.602% and 74.225%.
In the category 2 division, which is for C-sized ponies at FEI pony level, Alexander Yde Helgstrand took the gold aboard the 16-year old Jumanji (by Jacobspeel's Rocky x Luzern). Helgstrand won all three rounds with 72.778%, 771.382% and 73.325%. Cecilie Hansen and Waber af Kongshoej, a 9-year old Danish bred Dressmann x Marchi offspring, earned silver with 70.769%, 71.179% and 70.075%, while Frederikke Gram Jacobsen and the 9-year old RS Proud Mary (by Champion de Luxe x Bolero) finished with bronze on 71.282%, 69.512% and 71.175%.
