The 4-year old Delyr des Bourdons, the 5-year old Chtromae Linaro, and the 6-year old became the winners of the 2017 French Young Pony Championships held during the "Grande Semaine de Dressage" in Saumur, France, on 22 - 24 September 2017. These young pony championships were an impressive, clean sweep for the Leborgne family who scored all three gold medals with their ponies!
The 15-year old Jade Leborgne steered the home bred French Sport pony gelding Delyr des Bourdons (by Don't Worry x Dornik B) to victory in the 4-year old division. The pony scored 75.0% in the preliminary round and 79.8% in the Final round to average 77.40 points for gold. Maud Poulin and Jean Vernin's Druide d'Heolan (by Cathael Caradog x Coednewydd Black Magic) were on the winner's heels with only 0.1 behind them. Druide scored 78.8% in the preliminary round and 75.8% in the finals round to round it off on 77.3 points. Jill Sihalathavong and the French bred Dragon Ball de Mel (by Aron x Kiss me De Villee) finished with bronze on 74.3% after posting 74.8% and 73.8%.
In the 5-year old division 47-year old Julia Leborgne captured the second gold medal for the Leborgne family in the young pony classes. Aboard the home bred Chtromae Linaro (by Strahlemann x Golden Highlight) she scored 83.0% and 72.6% to average a winning 77.8 points. Cecile Pizzera and the German bred PAV Early Shirly (by Strahlemann x Nico the Champ) got silver with 78.4% and 72.0% (75.20 points), while Floriane Peligrain on the German bred Hesselteichs Domino (by Donnerwetter x Lucky Lao) landed bronze with 72.2% and 76.4% (74.3 points).
Jade's mom Julia Leborgne completed the hattrick with another gold in the 6-year old division, this time aboard the home bred Beltmeyer Linaro (by Weltmeyer x Golden Highlight). The cross bred pony scored 83.6% in the preliminary round and 85.2% in the finals to average 84.4 points for gold. Ninon Ciesla and the German bred Nobless Vaness (by Nobel Nagano x Viscount) landed silver with 77.!% and 76.4% (77.1 points). Laurence Kimpflen and the black PAV Enna (by Strahlemann x Niveau) finished with bronze after posting 73.0% and 71.2% (72.1 points).
When asked what the secret to her success is, Julia Leborgne told Eurodressage that "most of my success comes from the pleasure I get while riding my horses every day and the complicity I progressively install between us. This is also what I try to teach to my children." Julia runs a small family stable with her husband and three daughters. Julia also credits Ariane Pourtavaf, from whom they bought broodmare Darby (by Dornik B x Power Boy) which produced Delyr des Bourdons, as well as the Linaro syndicate. Leborgne regularly trains with German Hans-Henrich Meyer zu Strohen, "who makes me feel new sensations each time I take a lesson with him," she said.
