German Grand Prix rider Hendrik Lochthowe is leaving his long-time employer, Gestut Meggle in Wasserburg, Germany, to create a new base at Ralph Uwe Westfhoff's Gestüt Riedmühle in Butzbach, Germany.
Lochthowe already announced his departure from Meggle in August but has now disclosed where he's moving to.
Lochthowe worked for Toni and Marina Meggle for five years. The horse loving Meggle couple were responsible and key for Lochthowe's success as a dressage rider in Germany since 2012 by giving him high quality horses to ride and compete. His most successful ride was the stallion Boston (by Johnson x Partout) with whom he competed internationally at Grand Prix level.
The 38-year old Lochthowe now decided to following his former life partner Israeli Eyal Zlatin to Westfhoff's yard where Henrik will set up his own business alongside helping Westhoff and Zlatin with the management of the Riedmühle horses. Zlatin has been riding Westhoff's recent acquisitions Florenciano and Bonzanjo amongst other, taking over from Marc-Patrick Fritz.
Lochthowe, who previously worked at Dressage Performance Centre Lodbergen and Silvia Ikle before going to Meggle, will bring his only, own horse to Butzbach near Frankfurt and will continue to be coached by Wolfram Wittig.
Westfhoff is a new name name on the scene, recently investing a small fortune into the Rothenberger family's Cosmo, Foreign Affair, Sankt Anton and Santiano R.
