For the second year in a row Belgian young Grand Prix rider Laurence Roos has been nominated for the title of VLP Talent of the Year. She is one of five candidates in the running for the title, which is awarded at the 2017 CDI Mechelen at the end of December.
Aboard the Belgian warmblood Fil Rouge (by Stedinger x Argentinus), Roos represented Belgium at the 2017 European Dressage Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, and won silver at the 2017 Belgian Dressage Championships. The 24-year old Roos is a dentist by profession.
Roos is the only dressage rider selected for the title amongst four other show jumping riders that are members of the VLP Talent Team. Her rivals are Pieter Clemens, Zoe Conter, Viktor Daem and Boy Adrian van Gelderen.
Only two three the VLP Talent of the Year title was won by a dressage rider: Belgian Grand Prix team riders Julie de Deken and Jorinde Verwimp won it in 2010 and 2014.
The VLP Talent of the Year is decided by a group of experts, the rider's ranking, a public vote, the VLP board of directors and committees and the equestrian press. You can vote for Laurence here.
