The 4-year old Westfalian licensed stallion Federico Fellini will be focused on a sport career instead of breeding, after he failed the 50-day Stallion Performance Testing in Adelheidsdorf at the beginning of December 2017.

The bay Federico Fellini is bred by Gerd Pigge and Oldenburg registered. He is by For Romance I out of Dunja (by De Niro x Andiamo x Waldhorn).

He was licensed at the 2015 Westfalian Stallion Licensing, where he finished third in the premium ring. At the licensing he sold for 250,000 euro to Dressage Performance Centre in Lodbergen. At the time it was announced that the stallion would move to The Netherlands to Gert Jan van Norel's station, but the bay stayed in Germany and a partnership was struck with Johann Hinnemann's Krusterhof.

At the performance test in Adelheidsdorf, Federico Fellini scored a total of 7.56 points, which is below the minimum required 7.8 to successfully complete the testing and maintain a "licensed" status. He scored 8.75 for character, 9 for willingness to work, but 7.5 for walk and 7.5 for trot and canter. With 7.5 for rideability, show jumping and general impression, his overall mark stayed at 7.56 points.

"We did our best to let Federico Fellini shine in the testing. The numerous 8s he got in sport (under Martin Pfeiffer) speak for themself," said Krusterhof's press agent. "Together with the Dressage Performance Centre Lodbergen we have decided no longer to offer Federico Fellini up for stud. With his successful 14-day test in 2016 and sport test in February 2017, Federico Fellini is fully approved for 2016 and 2017, so breeders with foals in 2017 and 2018 will still get their full papers."

Federico Fellini will now be focused on sport. Lodbergen and Krusterhof will continue to collaborate.
