Italian dressage rider Sara Perrucci has acquired the 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding Westpoint. The former World Young Horse Champion is now a Grand Prix schoolmaster for the American based Italian.
Westpoint is 2003 born KWPN gelding by Jazz x Michelangelo. He was a licensed breeding stallion with the KWPN society and the 2006 performance test winner. Hoever he now has been gelded to be focused on sport.
Under Emmelie Scholtens the horse achieved some impressive career highlights as a youngster. He was the 2007 Pavo Cup winner and the 2009 World Young Horse Champion in Verden.
The late Cees Broere acquired Westpoint (by Jazz x Michelangelo) right after the stallion won the title in Verden. Under Broere's resident trainer Kirsten Beckers Westpoint made her international Grand Prix debut in June 2014 and she competed him from 2014 till 2016 at CDi's in Drachten, Den Bosch, Nieuw en St. Joosland, Roosendaal, Rotterdam, Arnheim, Hagen and Drachten. The 2016 CDI Drachten in January was their last international.
Beckers left Broere stud in June 2016 and the stallion was sent to Emmelie Scholtens, who did a few national classes with him. Westpoint was sent to Andreas Helgstrand to be sold in the autumn of 2017.
Originally from Milan, Italian Sara Perrucci acquired Westpoint two weeks ago and already made her show debut on the black in a national class in Wellington on Thursday 25 January. The pair scored 66.765% to finish third.
Perrucci has only competed nationally in her career so far. She recently followed her boyfriend, Italian show jumper Mauro Atzeri to the United States, where he is based.
