The 5-year old black mare Phantastica was proclaimed German Sport Horse Mare of the Year 2018 at the first ever DSP Mare Championship, which was held during the South German Stallion Licensing in Munich on 27 January 2018.
Bred and owned by the Brandenburg State Stud in Neustadt/Dosse, where the German Sport Horse Society was founded and based, Phantastica is by Don Juan de Hus out of Philharmonie (by Expo'se x Sandro Hit).
Each South German affiliated breed society was eligible to send two mares to the DSP Mare Championship, which was judged by Manfred Schäfer and Martin Spoo.
Phantastica scored a total of 8.41 points to win the Mare of the Year title. In 2017 she won the South German Young Horse Championship in Nördlingen and was 19th in the qualification round of the 2016 Bundeschampionate. She is from the same dam line as Isabell Werth's Belantis.
The runner up in the mare championship was the dark bay Diamant (by Millennium x Quattro B), who scored 8.25 points. She is owned by the state stud Graditz in Munich. Candelera B (by Best of Gold x Landsberg) placed third with 8.03 points. She is owned by W. Bergmann.
