Brizard, a Danish team horse at the 2016 European Young Riders Championships, has been sold to American John McGinty through Helgstrand Dressage U.S.A.
Brizard is a 13-year old Danish warmblood gelding by Romanov out of Bijou (by Dunhill H). He is bred by Ulla and Kurt Olesen.
The liver chestnut was first trained and competed as a youngster by Simone Lunding-Hoppe. She showed him in 2010 and 2011. In 2012 Jeanet Friis Wagner took over and presented the horse at M-level one time before Marie Skov Olesen climbed in the saddle a month later.
Owned by Skov Olesen, Brizard first competed nationally and in 2013 they tackled the junior classes. They rode at the CDIO-J in Hagen, Flyinge, Babenhausen and Odense that year and won team silver at the 2013 Nordic Baltic Championships. In 2014 they moved to young riders national level and in 2015 they went back on the international circuit with CDI starts in Stadl Paura, Odensen, and Aalborg as well as the Nordic Baltic Championships where they got team gold and individual bronze.
In 2016 they were the number four on the Danish team and earned team bronze at the 2016 European Young Riders Championships in Oliva Nova, Spain.
Skov Olesen rode her last show on Brizard at the CDN Ikast in October 2017 after which Brizard was shipped to Wellington, Florida, to be sold.
The 67-year old John McGinty is an amateur small tour rider and one of the founding fathers and supporters of the FEI endoresed CDI Amateur classes. He has been competing the 16-year old Swedish bred Donatelli (by Don Schufro) in the international small tour Amateur classes in 2017.
