The Hanoverian bred and KWPN licensed 6-year old stallion Total U.S. has been sold to Austria. Gun millionaire Gaston Glock acquired the stallion to add to Edward Gal and Hans Peter Minderhoud's string of horses.
Bred by Paul Schockemohle and owned by Paul in partnership with Joop van Uytert. He is by Totilas out of (by Sir Donnerhall x Don Schufro).
The black was licensed with the KWPN society and went on to score 86.5 points in the Stallion Performance Test.
Under Dinja van Liere, he was sixth in the 2016 Pavo cup Finals and became the reserve Pavo Cup Champion and runner up in the KWPN stallion competition in 2017. Last week he won the 2018 KWPN Stallion Competition in Den Bosch.
With Total U.S. moving to Glock's stable in Oisterbeek, The Netherlands, the fourth Totilas' offspring has relocated to the barn: Toto jr, Trafalgar and Total U.S. as well as Taminiau (by Toto Jr x Sandro Hit).
"Total U.S. is a wonderful, top-performing and very talented stallion who immediately reminded me of his father Totilas," Gal commented in the official press release. "I was delighted with him the first time I saw him."
In an interview with Horses.nl, Joop van Uytert stated that the decision to sell was not a hard one, considering the home the horse was going to. Furthermore, Total U.S. was not as popular with breeders as hoped for with so far 141 offspring registered with KWPN, of which 70 were born in 2017. "Last year he bred 130 mares. It's a lot but not extreme. If he would cover 400 mares world wide, the cards would have been different," said Van Uytert.
