The Oldenburg bred Furstenball has been proclaimed Danish Warmblood Stallion of the Year at the 2018 DWB Stallion Licensing in Herning, Denmark, on Sunday 11 March 2018.
Bred by Georg Sieverding, Furstenball was purchased by Lone Boegh Henriksen as a foal at the Vechta Elite Foal Auction in 2006. He became the Oldenburg Licensing Champion in 2008 and Lone sold half ownership to Paul Schockemohle. The stallion has been standing at Schockemohle's station in Muhlen, Germany, his entire life. He became the Stallion performance test winner in 2009 and 2011 Haupt Premium winner.
As a sport horse Furstenball and his rider Ines Westendarp won the Bundeschampionate and were a World Young Horse Championship finalists. The stallion was trained to small tour level, but retired from sport at the end of 2013.
As one of the most popular breeding stallions in Germany and Denmark for many years, Furstenball has sired more than 60 licensed sons in Germany and 16 in Denmark. His most successful offspring, of which the first crop was born in 2010, include the World Young Horse Championship finalists Heiline's Danciera and Fine Time.
The 12-year old Furstenball was unable to attend the special prize giving ceremony in Herning due to health reasons, which prevent him from traveling, as well as a busy breeding schedule in Muhlen, Germany.
Owner Lone Boegh Henriksen was visibly moved by the great honour that was bestowed upon her stallion in the celebration ceremony held in Herning. She received a painted of Furstenball by Thomas Bach Jensen from WBFSH president Jan Pedersen.
