French Grand Prix rider Virginie Gauthier has been hired as an assistant trainer at Toni and Marina Meggle's Georgihof dressage stable in Wasserburg, Germany.

The 26-year old Gauthier will be joining the newly appointed head rider Matthias Bouten at Georgihof as part of the in-house riding team.

The move to Germany will be a big enterprise for Gauthier, whose dressage career has been entirely based on French soil. She was working as an assistant trainer at Dominique and Stephanie Brieussel's yard.

Aboard the 10-year old Dutch warmblood Dickens (by Jazz x Welt Hit II) Virginie made her CDI Debut at Under 25 level at the 2016 CDI Saumur. The same year she rode in the Under 25 division in Compiègne and Le Mans. She made her transition to senior Grand Prix level in 2017 and again campaigned at the CDI's Saumur, Compiègne and Le Mans.

French team trainer Jan Bemelmans submitted Gauthier on the French Grand Prix squad in 2017.

"I will start working at Meggle early April," Gauthier cofirmed to Eurodressage.
