The Belgian selection circuit for the 2018 World Young Horse Championships is in full swing and the first provisional ranking after four qualifiers has been announced. The 5-year old Conan di Fonte Abeti, the 6-year old Miss Dior van den Bruel and the 7-year old Aragon are topping the ranking at the moment.
The Belgian WCYH selection circuit is based on the placings of the combinations at seven selection trials held between 31 March and 23 June. The two best results in the preliminary test as well in the finals tests count for ranking points.
The qualifiers are in Aalst (31 March), Diepenbeek (14 April), Ghlin (29 April), Dentergem (12 May), Schilde (26 May), Meerdonk (10 June) and Cheratte (23 June).
In the 5-year old division Nick van Laer is currently in the lead with the Italian bred Hanoverian Conan di Fonte Abite (by Apache x Sir Donnerhall). He has accumulated 200 points. Tom Francks and Isole Tuypens' Westfalian stallion Cuanto Curo van het Bloemenhof (by Quotenkonig x Weltino) is in second place with 198 points, followed by Christel Vernelen on the SBS bred stallion Hitch van het Bloemenhof (by Vivaldi x Quaterback) with 197 points.
In the 6-year old division former Belgian Grand Prix team rider Philippe Jorissen has steered Walter Blockx' Belgian warmblood mare Miss Dior van den Bruel (by Special Agent Amour x Florestan) into the lead with 200 points. Nick van Laer and Mario van Orshaegen's Just a Gigolo (by Johnson x Werther) are second with 196 points and Kayleigh Buelens and the Holly Simensen bred Oldenburg gelding Fifty Ways to Victory (by Foundation x Harvard) are third with 193 points.
Eight combinations are competing in the 7-year old division and Loranne Livens is in the lead on the home bred Rhinelander gelding Aragon (by Aaron x Lord Loxley) with 200 points. Laura Luyten and the Belgian warmblood gelding Lamborghini (by Bon Bravour x San Remo) are standing second with 198 points and Flore de Winne has moved his Hanoverian bred Basali (by Belissimo M x Weltmeyer) into third place with 195 points.
