The popular Danish warmblood licensed stallion and international Grand Prix horse Skovens Rafael has tested positive to the Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome (WFFS) carrier gene.
Bred by Kirsten & Jens Lund Pedersen and owned by Per and Lotte Skjaerbaek, the 14-year old liver chestnut stallion is by Romanov out of Tazorba (by Don Schufro).
He is a Danish warmblood elite stallion and approved for Oldenburg and Swedish warmblood. He competed at the 2009 and 2010 World Young Horse Championships and is currently competing at international Grand Prix level.
Rafael has produced numerous excellent offspring for sport in Denmark, including licensed stallion Adrenalin Firfod, international youth rider's hose Rafaella K and Andreas Helgstrand's popular licensed stallion Springbank II.
Skovens Rafael is stationed at the Katrinelund stud in Denmark. Also their 6-year old German bred Romeo (by Romanov x Wolkentanz I x Wanderbusch II) has tested positive.
The rest of Katrinelund's stallion roster (Cantolar, Casall Sem, Crelido, De l'Or, Fredbo's Garmin, Freestyle, Godsend du Reverdy, Hesselhøj Donkey Boy, Katrinelund Ferrari, Olympus, Quintet, Svalegårds Gold Crelido, and Zodiac) tested negative.
Katrinelund also distributes semen of other dressage stallions, such as Fidertanz, Floriscount, Furst Romancier, Sir Donnerhall, Top Gear, Tailormade Temptation, Totilas, Weltjunge and Tobajo Picez but their WFFS has not been disclosed.
