Retired international 5* dressage judge Jan Peeters became the recipient of the 2018 Wim Ernes Memorial Trophy. He received this distinction at the 2018 Dutch Dressage Championships in Ermelo, on 29 July 2018.
The Wim Ernes Memorial Trophy is an initiative of the organizers of the Dutch Championships and is annually given to a Dutch equestrian personality that has distinguished his/herself by cooperating and spreading knowledge.
Jan Peeters received a special statue from Maud Ernes, daughter of the deceased Wim Ernes, who was Holland's leading 5* dressage judge as well as a KWPN stallion selector and team trainer.
"For decades Jan Peeters has disseminated his big technical knowledge of dressage as judge at the Olympic Games in Atlanta and Sydney, and at numerous international championships and world cup finals. Because of the FEI age limit, this international judging career came to an end in 2009. He then became a member of the Judges Supervisory Panel. For years Jan Peeters has shared his knowledge by designing dressage tests, training and educating judges with the KNHS from grassroots to national top level. Wim Ernes was one of his students. Jan Peeters was also for years a successful youth team trainer and he has been passing on his knowledge through clinics."
