The entry field of the 2018 London Olympia International Horse Show has suffered another loss of a top rider and has now been reduced to just 12 combinations.
After Dujardin withdrew her top horse Mount St. John Freestyle for a cough, and Spanish shooting star Juan Matute Guimon withdrew as his Quantico had a bout of colic, now another favourite of the public, Edward Gal, announced his withdrawal with his number one ride, Zonik.
On 14 December, Zonik's owner Glock stated: "Zonik didn’t really eat today and in the evening he had fever. So we had to cancel the horse show in London because we won’t risk the long travel. We‘re very sad but the welfare of the horse comes first."
Olympia will be the test ground for the new shortened Grand Prix test. On Monday 17 December a reduced group of just 12 riders (no substitutions have been made) will appear in front of the big dressage loving audience of the U.K. The freestyle is on Tuesday.
