The 14-year old international Grand Prix stallion Apache will be proclaimed keur stallion at the 2019 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, on Friday 1 February 2019.
Apache is bred by A. van der Koppel and is by UB40 out of Tolande (by Krack C).
Emmelie Scholtens trained the bay stallion up to Grand Prix level. The pair won the 2012 KWPN Stallion Competition. They made their international Grand Prix debut in 2015 and were first selected on the Dutch team for the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, where they finished 25th in the Grand Prix Special. They are members of the Dutch A-squad.
As a breeding stallion Apache sired five licensed offspring with the KWPN society: Grand Galaxy Win, Hometown, Intro K, Improver VDT, as well as Indian Rock, and 14 licensed stallions in Germany, including Jovian, Arango, AC-DC, Apalachee, and All You Want. His oldest offspring is now competing at small tour level, such as Gaudi Vita (Joyce Heuitink).
Last spring, Apache made headlines when his WFFS test came back negative, despite having sired four carrier offspring. An old sample was used at the lab and a human error was made there. Owner Ad Valk had to send a new sample to the lab, which came back positive.
Apache will be celebrated at the 2019 KWPN licensing in the dressage stallion show on Friday evening.
