The 7-year old Danish bred licensed stallion Atterupgaards Botticelli has been gelded.
Boticelli is bred by Michael and Kristin Sinding and is by Benetton Dream out of Atterupgaards Dicte (by Caprimond x Donnerhall), the full sister to Cathrine Dufour's European Championship bronze medal winning Atterupgaards Cassidy.
He was licensed with the German Oldenburg society and Swedish warmblood society. He is a carrier of the WFFS gene.
Under Selina Solberg Vittinghus, the liver chestnut stallion was 16th at the 2016 Danish Young Horse Championships in the 4-year old division and won silver at the 2017 Danish Warmblood 5-year old Championship in Herning. They competed at the 2017 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses and finished 15th in the Finals.
In 2018 a half share in the ownership of the stallion sold to Andreas Helgstrand and Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez got the ride. They were 13th in the 6-year old Finals at the 2018 World Young Horse Championships.
Danish born American Grand Prix champion Charlotte Jorst acquired the stallion in the autumn of 2018.
It was originally planned for Botticelli to ship to Jorst in Florida in February, but he has now arrived earlier, gelded, in California in January. Jorst is based in Arroyo del Mar near San Diego, California, and trains with Marie Meyers.
"I'm taking him to Florida next week to compete him and then we’ll see how he does! He’s amazing," Jorst told Eurodressage. When asked why she gelded him, Jorst replied, "exclusively because he’s a (WFFS) carrier. I love stallions. I had to do this. It was purely because of the genetics."
