American Grand Prix champion Charlotte Jorst has shipped her new acquisition, young super star Zhaplin Langholt, back to Europe for her European spring and summer training and competition tour.

Jorst, however, has not planned to qualify Zhaplin for the upcoming World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Ermelo, The Netherlands, in August.

Zhaplin Langholt is a 6-year old Danish warmblood by Zonik x Stedinger. Under Andreas Helgstrand he won the 2018 Danish Warmblood young horse championship in Herning and was a hot favourite for the title at the 2018 World Young Horse Championships after scoring 9.0 and placing fourth in the warm up round. Unfortunately in the finals the horse drew blood in the mouth and was eliminated.

Danish born Charlotte Jorst bought Zhaplin as a future prospect last autumn and shipped the horse to the U.S.A. This winter they have been training with Ulf Möller at Helgstrand U.S.A. in Wellington.

Zhaplin was shipped to Europe and initially it was posted on Ridehesten that the horse would try to qualify for Ermelo through the Danish system, unclear if it were to be with Jorst in the saddle or a Helgstrand rider.

Eurodressage asked Charlotte and she told us that Zhaplin will not be trying for Ermelo.

"I’ve been trying to figure out what to do. Zhaplin is going to Europe (on 31 March), so it’s not so easy to go through the American system. Zhaplin has also shown a lot already so I think I’ll just not try for Ermelo at all. It’s too much for him," Charlotte told Eurodressage.

Jorst plans on a European campaign with her number one Grand Prix horse Nintendo and will keep Zhaplin with her for more training.

"I will continue riding him," said Charlotte about her strapping black youngster. "Nintendo is going mid May, so I did not want to ship him all the way to South California and then all the way back a month later. They will ride him there (at Helgstrand Dressage) for 1.5 months and then I’ll come."

Jorst and Zhaplin scored 82.200 and 82.400 points in the two national 6-year old young horses classes they competed in at the national show in Wellington, Florida.
