Spanish Olympian Severo Jurado Lopez will not be competing his top horse Fiontini at his home show, the 2019 CDIO Uggerhalne in Denmark. The mare is not fit to compete.

Jurado was supposed to ride the 10-year old Danish warmblood mare Fiontini (by Fassbinder) in the Grand Prix competition at the event, which hosts the third leg of the 2019 FEI Nations Cup dressage series.

"Fiontini was not feeling well this morning," Severo explained. "So we sadly decided to withdraw her from Equitour and let the vet check her. It’s more important that we find out why she’s not feeling well, than the competition. But of cause it’s disappointing when it happens just before a show. But horses come always first!"

Fiontini is the triple World Young Horse Champion. In October 2016 she sold to Swedish Under 25 rider Beata Soderberg, but in March 2018 she sold the mare back to Andreas Helgstrand and his business partner Stutteri EVO.

After the pair's highly successful international Grand Prix debut at the CDI Herning in March two months ago, Jurado Lopez and Fiontini are in the running for the Spanish team spot at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam.
