Danish pony team trainer Jette Nevermann was asked to leave the 2019 Nordic Baltic Championships in Vilhelmsborg, Denmark on Thursday 27 June 2019 after an incident took place in which she applied unnecessary use of whip.
The Danish pony team won team gold at the 2019 Nordic Baltic Championships. Unfortunately one team pony became unruly on Thursday and Nevermann used the whip on that pony. This was spotted by the stewards.
The Danish equestrian federation issued an official statement on the incident:
"Pony dressage team trainer Jette Nevermann Torup, had to leave Agria NBC at Vilhelmsborg. This was due to the fact that two of the stewards of the event as well as a treating vet had observed a questionable behavior on her part, involving unnecessary use of whip in dealing with a team rider's pony,"
"Jette Nevermann Torup acknowledges that she has acted inappropriately and inconsistent with the Danish Ride Federation's ethical rules , and since it is one of the Danish Ride Federation's most important tasks to ensure that our horses and ponies are treated in the best possible way, the incident has naturally taken intelligence and are being processed."
Jette Nevermann has been Danish pony team trainer since 2013. She took over the post from Vibke Degn Andersen.
