The KWPN breed society has decided to shorten the duration of its spring and autumn Stallion Performance Testing as of 2020. It will reduce the period to 35 and 21 days.
Last spring the KWPN ran a pilot project during the spring testing, shortening it from 70 days to 50. This was a result of negotations between stallion owners and rearers about the set-up of the performance test. After the spring testing, KWPN made an evaluation with the Breeding Board Riding Horse, Stallion Licensing Committee and stallion owners.
It has now been decided that as of 2020 the spring testing has been shortened from 50 days to 35 days and the autumn testing from 50 to 21 days.
The 2019 KWPN Autumn spring performance testing will take 35 days. Three weeks before the start of the autumn testing, the candidates will be presented under saddle by their owner rider to the stallion licensing committee so they can receive some last minute pointers.
Stallions that will try a third time after their approval (the spring testing one year after approval) will have to do a 21 day testing with saddle presentation three weeks beforehand.
The testing period for Gelderlanders and harness horses remains unchanged.
