2019 Swiss Warmblood Young Horse Championships

The 4-year old Fürst Alexander TM, the 5-year old Paella vom Schlossgut, and the 6-year old Donja KWG became the winners of the 2019 Swiss Warmblood Young Horse Championships held at the National Equestrian Centre in Avenches, Switzerland, on 19 - 22 September 2019.

The 2019 Swiss Warmblood Young Horse Championships took the traditional format of a warm-up round and a finals round, which counted for the medals. The Swiss Championships are restricted to domestically bred and registered horses as there is no open-breed alternative held in the country.

In the 4-year old division Fabio Tino and the dark bay stallion Fürst Alexander TM (by Furst Romancier x Don Marco) reigned supreme, winning the warm up round with 86.25% and the Finals with 87.50%. The stallion, who was praised for his trot, canter and expression, is owned by Christian Meyer. Eva Lachat steered the 2018 Swiss Warmblood mare champion Tuana vom Loo CH (by Finest x United) to the reserve champion's title. She scored 82.50% in the finals. The mare is bred and owned by Peter and Denise Luder. Sandra Meier and the mare Luana WS CH (by Lord Sinclair x Katoleme xx) landed third place with an 80% final score. Luana WS is bred by Sandra and Josef Witprächtiger and owned by Jolanda and Manuel Knobelspiess.

It was girl power in the 5-year old division, which was won by Eva Lachat aboard the 2017 Swiss Warmblood Mare champion Paella vom Schlossgut (by Furstenball) on a score of 79% in the Finals. Paella is bred and owned by Ursula Aebischer. The silver medal went to Fürsten Love de Monfirak CH (by Fürstenball x Weltgeist). Bred and owned by Céline Juillard, this dark bay mare was ridden by Tamara Horisberger and scored XX%. The bronze medal went to mare Velvet Lady Blue CH (by Enzo Ferrari x Ferro) under Corinne Rapold. She climbed from a fourth place in the qualifier to a third in the finals. this mare is bred by Ursula Schlechten, and owned by Esther Thuor and Barbara von Grebel.

Swiss Grand Prix rider Melanie Hofmann and Urs Ludäscher's bay mare Donja KWG (by For Romance x Samarant) were unbeatable in the 6-year old division. After winning the warm up round, the pair also produced the highest score of 82% on the board for the title. Donja KWG is bred by Walter Kunz. Petra Lüthi and the bat gelding Bacio RR (by Belissimo M x De Niro) were the runners-up with 77.50%. The gelding is bred by Hans Rudolf Reusser and owned by the rider. The bronze medalists scored the same mark of 77.50% as the silver duo but ended up in third place. Nina Ehrensperger and the dark bay gelding Fidelio von Worrenberg CH (by Fidertanz x Lauries Crusador xx) slotted in third in the finals. Fidelio is bred by Ferdi and Sandra Hodel and owned by Andrea Grimm Widmer.

The Swiss Warmblood society also hosts an M-level championship, which was won by Markus Graf aboard Gaby Koller's 9-year old Dantino CH (by Desperado x Welt Hit II). The runner-up was Desiree Wozny aboard her own 9-year old Riccolo von Buchmatt (by Riccione x De Niro). The S-level Championship was won by young rider Meilin Ngovan on Dream of Night Fluswiss (by Dream of Glory x Rubinstein). Corinne Sélebam steered Walter Kunz' Bretton Leaf KWG (by Bretton Woods) to a second place.
