The 4-year old Kardieno, the 5-year old Queenparks Wendy, the 6-year old Revolution, and the 7-year old D'Avie have proven to be on form by winning the warm up round of the 2019 Danish Young Horse Championships, which are being held at Blue Hors stud in Randboel, Denmark, on 10 - 13 October 2019.
With Andreas Helgstrand being the biggest young horse shopper in the country, if not the world, there was little surprise that horses from his barn dominated all age categories.
However in the four year old division it was not the expected Helgstrand horse to take the lead. Instead the Dutch cross bred Kardieno won the warm up round under Helgstrand stable jockey Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard. Sired by Dante Weltino (Oldenburg) out of a Parcival dam (Gelderlander), Kardieno scored 8.4 for walk, 9.4 for trot and canter, 9.5 for rideability and 9.3 for potential to win the warm-up with 92.000 points. The class was judged by Ole Hummelshoj and Jesper Holst Hansen. The runner-up was Mette Sejbjerd Jensen on the Hanoverian premium stallion Suarez (by Sezuan x Desperados). Owned by Andreas and Sunday Partner, Suarez scored 9 for walk, 8.8 for trot, 9.5 for canter, 9 for rideability and 9.2 for potential.
In the 5-year old division it was not World Champion Jovian topping the leader board but stable mate Queenparks Wendy (by Sezuan x Blue Hors Soprano). Owned by Bolette Wandt, the black mare scored 8.8 for walk, 9 for trot, 10 for canter, and 9.5 for rideability and potential. Andreas and Wendy scored 93.600 for the victory. The class was judged by Jorgen Christensen and Susanne Baarup. Helgstrand steered Cathrine Rasmussen's world champion and KWPN stallion Jovian (by Apache x Tango) to a second place with 93.200 points. The tall Jovian earned 8 for walk, 10 for trot, 9.8 for canter, 8.8 for rideability and 10 for potential. The judges placed Spanish Severo Jurado Lopez and the Swedish warmblood stallion Springbank II (by Skovens Rafael x De Niro) third with 91.400 points. Hennix & Helgstrand's liver chestnut stallion received 9 for walk and trot, 9.5 for canter, 9 for rideability and 9.2 for potential. Interesting was that Danish number one Grand Prix rider Cathrine Dufour is now also getting her feet wet in young horse classes as a rider on the Helgstrand pay-roll. Not with the 2017 Bundeschampion Eternity, but with Straight Horse Don Zuan she scored her highest total (86.60) to place fourth. Eternity (by Escolar x Sir Donnerhall) dropped to 10th place after earning 6 for walk. Lone Boegh Henriksen's Oldenburg stallion Damon Gold (by Damon Hill x Furst Romancier), who was 7th at this year's Bundeschampionate in Germany, placed 12 in the warm up of the Danish Championships.
Andreas and his 2019 World Championship silver medal winning stallion Revolution (by Rocky Lee x Rouletto) were a league of their own in Randbol today, winning the 6-year old warm-up with 94.400 points. Judges Jorgen Christensen and Kurt Christensen rewarded the million euro stallion with 8.5 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 10 for canter, 9.2 for rideability and 10 for potential. Selina Solberg Vittinghus and Kristine Munch Sinding's mare Atterupgaards Delorean (by Bon Bravour x Sandro Hit) moved into second place in the stallion dominated top 6 of the class. Delorean scored 90.000 points after earning 8.4 for walk, 10 for trot, 8.8 for canter and rideability and 9 for potential. Nadja Aaboe Sloth and her own stallion Favour Gersdorf (by Foundation x Leandro) were third with 88.20 points. He got 9 for walk, 8.8 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 9 for rideability and 8.8 for potential.
With fifteen horses competing in the warm-up round, the 7-year old division was the smallest of the four. Severo Jurado Lopez rode the Hanoverian licensed stallion D'Avie in a snaffle to first place on a score of 86.913. The Don Juan de Hus x Londonderry stallion got 8.5 for walk, 9.5 for trot, 10 for canter, 9 for rideability and 9.6 for potential and 80.625 as a technical score. Jan Möller Christensen and Kirsten Andresen's stallion Hesselhoj's Donkey Boy (by ERA Dancing Hit x Milan) were second ith 84.282 after receiving 10 for walk, 9 for trot, 8.8 for canter and rideability and 9.4 for potential. They got a 76.563 technical score. Former Danish Grand Prix team rider Anna Zibrandtsen and her refined but hypertalented gelding UNO Don Olympic (by Don Olymbrio x Del Piero) were third with 80.125. The gelding earned 8 for walk, 8.5 for trot, canter, rideability and potential and 76.250 as a technical mark.
